Puppy Classes and Behavior Training

By April 11, 2016 April 18th, 2019 PETCARE Blog

Every puppy and every dog benefits from going to school!

Pet owners frequently think that dogs can naturally train themselves and that only ‘bad’ dogs need additional training. This is incorrect. If you expect your puppy to train themselves, then you will very likely be upset at how well they don’t do it.

Most pets abandoned to animal shelters are there because of behavioral problems that their owners are not able to deal with. Most of these pets will ultimately be put to sleep due to the lack of new homes for them. And many of these tragedies can be prevented by early and effective training techniques and ongoing practice.

We recommend that you start new puppies with basic lessons such as ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ at 8-10 weeks of age. When your puppy is through their vaccination series then you should attend professional dog training classes. Books on training are nice. Online information is good.

And our staff can frequently give you some pointers as well. But there is nothing as good as having a professional dog trainer help out!

There are many different methods of training. Some pets respond best to one type of training, and some to another.

Please speak to one of our staff members for information about dog trainers in our area.
